Happy Spring, everyone.

This month we will focus our attention on women's reproductive organs and hormonal balance. 

The breasts, fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries are all a part of this complicated yet beautiful system. 

We will dive into hormones such as; pregnenolone, oxytocin, progesterone, estrogen, DHEA, testosterone, FSH, and LH and continue our discussion on cholesterol.

Along with the organs themselves, we will specifically discuss the intimate connection of all sex hormones. As we now know from our previous months' discussion, the hormones dance together as a whole. One of them being off can affect all the others. For example, cholesterol is at the forefront of all sex hormones, and cortisol can also have a reaching effect on these circulating sex hormones.  

The female reproductive system has multiple functions, such as menarche, menstruation, ovulation, conception, breastfeeding, perimenopause, and menopause. These functions are controlled by numerous hormones, which are all part of the HPO axis or hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and ovary network. This network regulates reproductive activity and is a two-way highway that allows communication between these three organs, the neurotransmitters and the hormones.
